Fertility Specialists of Houston IVF

What should I expect from my first visit?

Fertility Specialists of Houston IVFWhen an individual or couple has been attempting pregnancy for quite some time, there is often a high degree of frustration or anxiety already present. Knowing what to expect with the first consultation may reduce some of that anxiety. The fertility specialists of Houston IVF have provided the following information so you know what to expect when you arrive for your IVF consultation.

Most initial fertility clinic consultations with a reproductive endocrinologist last approximately an hour and involve a review of your medical chart and any medical records supplied. The consultation is an opportunity to review both your and your partner’s reproductive health, as well help you both feel more in control of the process.

During your initial visit, you will have a chance to meet with all the members of your medical care team. This infertility clinic team will interact with each other and with you during your treatment to ensure that every detail is considered, you have everything you need, and your questions and concerns are addressed. First, you'll meet with your reproductive endocrinologist, who will review your medical history and records and share his or her observations based on this preliminary information. Next, you'll meet with your primary nurse. This nurse will review your recommended testing or treatment plan and help you schedule necessary procedures. She will be your primary contact during your cycle, providing day-to-day instructions and facilitating the entire process. After consulting with these fertility specialists of Houston IVF, you will also meet with one of our financial counselors to help you understand the extent of your benefits and the estimated cost of treatment.

IVF ConsultationThe first visit typically will include discussing any prior fertility testing and treatment, in addition to home monitoring, which gathers data on hormonal patterns and menstrual cycles. Any family history that is relevant, such as a history of miscarriages, genetic disorders and hormonal problems will also be discussed. Based on health status and age, your doctor will go over all of the recommended testing and treatment options available to you, along with success rate percentages. Together, you will decide what course of action you are most comfortable taking.

We want not just the initial consultation, but your treatment at Houston IVF to go smoothly for you. Please do not hesitate to ask questions about anything you don’t understand. The best way to obtain the answers you are looking for is to provide your team with as much information as possible about your medical history and previous test or treatment results.
